Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Planning Begins
The Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame & Museum Inc. (MCHoF&M) has announced that planning has begun for its next Induction Ceremony and Fund-Raising Dinner to take place on May 14, 2022.
“Obviously we have to be conscious of pandemic conditions as we get closer to the date,” says MCHoF&M President Peter Nicholls. “At the same time, however, we want to do our part in a return to some kind of normal for the curling community.”
The Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame Induction Banquet has long been an opportunity for curling fans to get together at the end of the curling season to celebrate the accomplishment of Manitoba curlers and to honour teams and individuals who have played a part in creating the rich history of curling in Manitoba.
In a change from past events, the May 14, 2022 date is a Saturday evening.
The 2020 Induction class, announced in January of that year, will be honoured May 14 with their formal induction into the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame. The group includes Curlers Karen Purdy, Vic Peters and Chris Neufeld and Builder Resby Coutts along with two team inductions; the Jeff Stoughton 2011 World Champions and the 1984 Darcy Kirkness Canadian Junior Women’s Champions. Stick curling innovator Ernie Oliver, also in the 2020 class, was formally inducted at the Manitoba Stick Curling Association AGM in September this year.
In order to make the 2022 Induction & Fund-Raising Dinner a truly special affair, the Board is also considering additional inductees.
Ticket information and other event details will be announced in January.
